The Pendulum

While stuck in bed, I was revisiting some Edgar Allen Poe, and was instantly inspired to create. I had to quell the urge, placating my muse by drafting design templates, since I was in no shape to jump into my studio at that point. A few days later, this bladed beauty was born. Most of you probably already know what story stirred my creative juices, but for those who don't, this comes directly from one of Poe's most chilling tales, The pit and the pedulum. Nothing scarier than seeing your death, relentlessly, slowly swinging its way to you, closer with every swipe, as you lie strapped to a table, helpless. If you've followed me for any length of time, you'll know I grew up in my father's custom sword, and knife smithy. All my miniatures, are made exactly the same way the full sized versions are. The blade was deftly hand sawed from a sheet of silver, and securely soldered into a split solid rod, of hand hammer textured brass. Polished to a high gleam, but left somewhat scarred, speaking to its deadly duties. It's a substancial piece, with a comfortable heft. The edge, while it looks wickedly sharp, is 100% safe, and blunt. I have slept in this pendant before, with no ill effects. A conversation starter, to say the least.
