Radioative Rarities:Sensational Scarab

$230.00

Hello my freaky darlings!! If you, like me had an Egypt obsession as a kid, we can be friends. I never really got over mine, and I'm still in love with all things Egyptian. We as humans, have always found Egyptian burial culture morbidly fasconating. And no one more than the English, during the age of exploration. After the Carter Expedition, and the subsequent discovery of the tomb of Tutankahmen, Egyptomania swept the globe, and inspired a whole style movement, know as Egyptian revival, that went from 1880-1930. Basically, Egyptian revival was style that evoked Egypt, everything from architechture, fashion, and interior design. This particular morsel, contains a piece of that style. While I can't be sure exactly the date of when it was made, the main focus of this historic honey is a cast Uraniun glass Scarab beetle. Scarabs were worshipped by the Egyptians, believed that they rolled the sun in and out of the sky, as the scarab rolled balls of dung. This belief is shown in the sun motif of the fine silver bezel setting, solidly seated on a base of sturdy sterling silver. Wreathing that, is a smaller secondary bezel of antique silver beading. The whole piece is set on an extremely comfortable band of richly feather patterned sterling. Every design element is meant to evoke Egyptian style, and I think it does, rather well. And, the extra bonus of glowing under blacklight and UV. This little gem is available now, in a size 9½. I have a few more of these gems in stock, so get your custom today!!
