Glittering Galaxy

Hello my Freaky Darlings!! Creepy Katie here with more weird wonders for you to marvel at. This week, we're venturing into the heavens, with a rare gemstone that's really out of this world. This brilliant bauble really showcases a truly exceptional stone, which is Iolite Sunstone. Normal Sunstone is shades of orange, gold, and rust, and flecked with brilliant, glittery sparkles, that flash and scintillate as the stone moves. This, is its goth cousin, in shades of dark purple, blue, lavender, and navy. It's a really breathtaking gem, and a real bugger to photograph well, to fully capture the colors, swirls, and glitter flash. This particular stone is an exceptional example of the true majesty of Iolite Sunstone, a tiny galaxy swirls within its depths. It's a whopper too, at over an inch and a half long. I caged this gorgeous beast in a bezel setting of vintage sterling silver, that harkens to mind the elaborate wrought iron fences you find in older cemetaries. Long fingers of gleaming silver grasp this cabochon in a loving embrace, while the intricate beaded border futher enhances the look. The back is skeletonized, to let light through, so the complete spectrum of colors can be seen in good lighting. A graceful outline frames the whole thing, carefully darkened to make the details pop. Another of my custom made Antique French Jet and silver chains lovingly binds the whole thing together, as complete showstopper, and attention getting gothic neck adornment. This gem is rare, and as such I have only a few other cabs, and none quite as large as this one, so don't dally too long, if you need this tasty morsel in your life.
